DiDi has started to install protective sheets in its ride-hailing vehicles between driver and passenger seats across China, as a measure to prevent droplets transmission of COVID-19.
Supported by medical experts, DiDi piloted this project in Wuhan, Shenzhen, Taiyuan and some other cities previously. DiDi plans to invest roughly RMB 100 million (~$14.3 million USD) in this project in collaboration with millions of drivers, as public health officials call on citizens to use public transportation with caution.
DiDi already requires all drivers to wear a mask, register their temperatures daily, and disinfect and ventilate their vehicles regularly. Service stations were set up in 148 cities to distribute face masks and disinfectants to drivers.
